Quality is the source of our success

Good food is part of what makes life worth living. Quality is what makes good food taste great. Morubel is 100% about quality food and ensuring our product is an unforgettable savoury experience served up on a plate – every time. Tempting tastes and textures are what we have a passion for. Importantly, we also have a passion for safety.

Food safety starts at source. We constantly monitor and control the quality of our suppliers through regular visits and audits. Our purchase manual stipulates the product specifications and third party certifications we require from our suppliers.

Upon arrival at our processing facility in Ostend, the product is checked for compliance with our quality purchase specifications. Then, and only then, is the produce approved and undergoes further quality control systems while being processed.

Our processing plant works according to HACCP guidelines and has been certified according to IFS and BRC standards.

In addition, the plant is equipped with an in-house laboratory. Here we analyse the ‘sensory’ quality of our products (flavour, odour, texture and colour), including important chemical parameters. Microbiology and monitoring of contaminants is done by accredited external laboratories.

Morubel is certified according to the major food safety and quality management standards: IFS, BRC, ISO9001. We also have chain of custody certifications for organic shrimp, MSC and ASC certified seafood and GLOBALG.A.P. certified shrimp.
